Live Widget Display

Introduction

This page answers the question "where will my widget appear at each touchpoint?"

  • Popup on ATC & Cart Drawer: Each touchpoint has fixed slots — predefined positions for widgets. Merchants don't choose the slot; the system places each widget into the slot that matches its widget type.
  • Checkout, Thank You: Merchants choose where to place the app block that displays the widget on the page.

How Merchants Do It

For Popup on ATC and Cart Drawer, merchants add widgets to the correct touchpoint on the canvas and publish the funnel. For Checkout and Thank You, merchants place the corresponding app block.

Slot Position Widget
Banner Strip directly below the popup header Tiered Rewards Bar, Free Shipping Bar
Body Middle section of the popup, above the footer Complementary Products

The popup only opens when at least one widget qualifies for the product that was just added. If no widget qualifies, the buyer continues as they would with the standard theme behavior.

Checkout and Thank You

  • The widget appears at the app block position the merchant places in Shopify's checkout editor (one block per widget, with the Widget ID pasted in).
  • Subscription on Checkout appears automatically below each product line item in the order summary and does not require an app block.
  • Checkout and Thank You require the store to be on Shopify Plus.

Post-purchase

  • A dedicated Shopify page that opens after checkout and before the Thank You page. GemUpsells must be selected as the post-purchase app.
  • Each order displays only one offer page.

Rules to Know

  1. If the app embed is disabled, Popup on ATC and Cart Drawer don't run, and widgets at these two touchpoints don't appear.
  2. Cart Drawer only replaces the theme's cart on supported themes. On other themes, the theme's own cart remains and Cart Drawer widgets don't appear. Popup on ATC runs on every theme.
  3. Supported themes: Dawn and Shopify's free OS 2.0 theme family (Trade, Refresh, Craft, Sense, Studio, Origin, Colorblock, Taste, Ride, Spotlight, Crave, Publisher), Horizon / Tinker / Savor / Dwell, Atelier, Champion, Stiletto, Sahara, Pursuit, Xclusive, Volt, Rise, Turbo, Debutify, Be Yours, Vision, Aurora, Radiance, Eurus, Wonder, Creative, Flawless, Highlight, Showtime, Warehouse, Minimog, Ella, Impulse, Motion, Streamline, Expanse, Prestige, Impact, Focal, Symmetry, Palo Alto, Broadcast, Pipeline, Concept, Sleek, Shapes, Krank, and the vintage themes Debut / Brooklyn / Narrative / Venture / Simple / Minimal / Supply.
  4. A widget hides itself when it has nothing left to show: the product is out of stock, already in the cart or order (if that hide option is enabled), Smart suggestion returns no recommendation, or a Tiered Rewards Bar has no funnel discount tiers attached.
  5. Prices follow the store's default currency.
