Create funnel from scratch
Introduction
On the Create New Funnel screen, merchants can choose one of four pre-built funnel templates based on their business goals, or select Start from scratch to build a funnel from a blank canvas.
Regardless of the option selected, the new funnel is created in Draft status. Nothing goes live on the storefront until the merchant publishes the funnel.
1. How to create a funnel
- Go to Funnels → Create new funnel, or click Create now on the Home page.
- On the "What upsell funnel do you want to create?" screen, choose one of the five options:

- Choose a template: The app opens the Preview screen, where merchants can preview the entire buyer journey across touchpoints, switch between mobile and desktop views, and zoom in or out. Click Use this funnel to proceed.
- Choose Start from scratch: The funnel is created immediately without opening the Preview screen.
- The app opens the Funnel Editor for the newly created funnel, with its touchpoints, widgets, and display conditions configured according to the selected option.
2. Important rules
- New funnels are always created in Draft status. A funnel does not go live until it is published.
- Start from scratch creates a canvas with all five touchpoints but no upsell groups or widgets.
- Template-based funnels have their upsell groups configured with the Always display condition. For templates that include subscriptions, the Subscription group is enabled by default. See Funnel Templates for details about each template.
- Templates use sample products, not products from the merchant's store. Merchants must select products for each widget before publishing. Widgets without selected products will not appear on the storefront.
- There is no limit on the number of draft funnels, but only one active funnel can run on the live storefront at a time.
3. Frequently asked questions
Q1. Can I change the template after creating a funnel?
You cannot change the template of an existing funnel, but you can edit its contents, including adding or removing upsell groups and widgets, changing presets, and updating display conditions. To start with a different template, create a new funnel.
4. Current limitations
- Four predefined funnel templates are available. Industry-specific templates and AI-recommended templates are not currently supported.
